Buying a House
I had too much time to think about it and came to the conclusion that I didn’t really want to buy the other house at all … the back yard was too small for Miss Sugar Plum for one thing .. and it was too far north of where I live now which translates into being too far away from my grandson … LOL … so I took back my offer - nope never did get an answer back on the other one - so we looked at more and I found one that I did decide I want - my grandson liked the one with graffiti in the upstairs bedroom … I did not though it had a cute little front porch area … but being honest … I would probably never hardly ever use a front porch area … and it had an upstairs which is not something I really want to be traipsing up and down the stairs … I do not really need a game room upstairs … a living room to put the TV and Playstation is all the game room I need.
The subdivision does not have a swimming pool but that is okay too … my daughter and son-in-law have a pool in their backyard and if I were going to swim … it would be at their house anyway to spend time with my grandson - he likes for grandma to come swim with him … even though I do not actually swim … he has a great time.
We do not have a contract yet … with the holiday, we ran out of work week … I thin the negotiations are over and just waiting for them to send back the contract - I signed the last piece of paper needed this week and it went to the bank for their final approval - I signed the papers to start the loan/mortgage process when the contract comes back … the plan right now anyway is to close on August 1st. There is one room that needs painted and I want to do that before I move in.
I also will need to buy ceiling fans for every room. The really good news is that the house has all the appliances … a stove … a refrigerator … a microwave … a dishwasher …. a garage door opener … a washer and dryer …. and every window except one has mini blinds. Eventually I want to replace all of those mini blinds with the plantation blinds - those are sturdier and do not bend up so easily. The house does not have sliding glass patio doors … the door to the back yard is a regular door with window glass in the top in the kitchen. Sliding glass doors tend to lose a lot of heat in the winter time and let in a lot of cold air even if they are pretty and allow in a lot of sunshine … I do not know if I will like having natural gas again after all this time for heating and cooking … we’ll see. I used to love cooking with gas because it was so easy to adjust the temperature … but I have not cooked with gas for a very long time.
The bathroom has a lovely large window … I am thinking I need to get solar screening for all the windows - not sure if I can do that for the bathroom window or if I just need to put on the reflective covering to block out the excessive heat and sunshine - we’ll see once I get moved in - there are some very pretty ones in the reflective film and it says it is easy to install.
